Common questions

The extension isn't showing a panel on a listing I'm viewing

Make sure the page is a car listing on a supported site (Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, AutoTrader, Cars.com, CarGurus, eBay Motors, Kijiji, OfferUp). If the listing title is unusual, the extension may not auto-detect the car — click the toolbar icon and use the "Adjust" fields in the panel, or the popup's manual Year/Make/Model tab, to check it directly.

A lookup shows "No recalls" or "No complaints" — is that right?

Yes, if NHTSA has no records for that exact year/make/model, that's what shows. Coverage is strongest for vehicles sold in North America. You can double-check any result directly at nhtsa.gov.

The wrong car was detected from a listing

Listing titles vary a lot between sellers. Use the "Wrong car? Adjust" fields at the bottom of the extension panel, or the manual Year/Make/Model/VIN tabs in the popup or on the website, to check the correct vehicle.

Does Lemon Check Auto cost anything?

No — the core recall, complaint, crash-rating, VIN decode, and red-flag features are completely free, with no account or sign-up. See the privacy policy for what data is (and isn't) used.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Email us — see below. Include the site you were on, the car you looked up, and a screenshot if possible; that's usually enough to track down the issue quickly.
